Santorum: I Didn’t Say “Black People,” I Said “Blah People”
Santorum defended his tongue-slip on FOX News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” saying: “I looked at that, and I didn’t say that. If you look at it, what I started to say is a word and then sort of changed and it sort of — blah — came out. And people said I said ‘black.’ I didn’t. And I can tell you, I don’t use — I don’t — first off, I don’t use the term ‘black’ very often. I use the term ‘African-American’ more than I use ‘black… I can tell you as someone who did more work for historically black colleges, I used to have — every year, I used to bring all the historically black colleges into Washington, DC to try to help them, because they get very little federal money through the bureaucracy, and so I help to try to introduce them to people in the Department of Education so they could have more resources.”
STUPENDOUS SAVE.
Rick Santorum absolutely disgusts me. I realize that, for the most part, politicians are just pandering to their party lines and 99% of what they say cannot be taken at face value, it’s just been warped by the candidate and his/her campaign staff to sound good to whoever he/she happens to be talking to. I realize that most politicians are in no way the people they appear to be while on the campaign trail. But Rick Santorum is an awful, awful, disgusting, shitpile disgrace of a human being.
What kind of a fucking monster is this person. Rick Santorum is a sadistic, gross pretend-human who wants to be president. I realize he will probably not be president—he most likely won’t even get his party’s nomination, which is a CREDIT to the Republican Party that even they can see through this sanctimonious scumbag to his rotten, gelatinous core.
“Hey, Adam, is this just some fucking diatribe about how he doesn’t happen to support gay marriage?” YES! YES IT IS! THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS. Every person who decides they want to be president, in 2012, should be in FULL SUPPORT of gay marriage. Why isn’t this mandatory? I don’t mean mandatory in the legal sense, but in general—put it this way: how many of our 44 presidents were openly not Christian? Not even openly atheist or agnostic, but just specifically not Christian? NONE. Not one. Why do all our presidents have to be Christian? I’m not against Christians as president, but there’s no reason for this mandate to exist. People make the argument that our president should have a strong faith, but how many devout Buddhists have been president? How many people who go to temple every week and fast on Yom Kippur have been president? The fact remains that there is an unwritten rule which states that if you want to be elected President of the United States, you must say, “I BELIEVE IN JESUS AND I GO TO CHURCH EVERY WEEK.”
If this mandate exists for no reason (if you believe there is even one reason a president should be Christian, I would LOVE to hear it), why is there not a mandate that states a president should support the equal rights of every single one of his constituents? Why is there not a mandate that states a president should condemn the use of religion to hurt fellow human beings? Why is Christianity a required part of the political process? I’ve been alive 24 years, and the only thing I’ve seen Christianity used for in the political process is to attack and hurt and belittle.
In November 2012, I will be voting for Barack Obama. I voted for him in 2008, and I will vote for him again—not because he has earned my vote, but because I greatly prefer him to the alternative (in fact, the only two things I’ve seen him do that I appreciate (repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) are two things his opponents promise to reverse if elected, which makes me vehemently opposed to them). But if President Obama would like to earn my vote, he can do it very simply, and it will not take but 30 seconds of his time.
If, in the general election, he finds himself lined up against the inhuman monster that calls itself Rick Santorum, and during one of the debates, the Santorum lifts up a Bible—a book supposedly written by a god who loves each and every one of us equally and unconditionally—and uses its words to bring down even a single human being, I ask that President Obama turn to the Santorum and say:
“You are disgusting.”
Or something like that. I’m really not that picky.
